711. The name Clara or Celia was obtained from a deed with Albert selling land in 1914. Found by Jeff and Pete on trip to Middleburg PA in November, 2002. Her name doesn't read too clear.
Later, November 25, 2008, an email from Carolyn Ryan included the following:I found Izaac Gunzberger in Chicago in the 1920 census. I assume that he met Clara Schaffner there. I have not planned to visit Selingsgrove due to lack of time, but will let you know if I can ever get Cyndi or my sister to make the trip to Selingsgrove with me another year.

__________________________________________________________
Dear Peter,
I have continued finding information about the Berrington/Gunzberger family. My brother-in-law is pleased with the results. He thought Abraham (Albert) Gunzberger was from Austria instead of Prussia. Is there a reason for this?
Thanks to several censuses and newspaper obits, I state that Isaac Gunzberger married Clara Schaffner (b. 1888/89 in Romania). Later Isaac changed his name to Jack Dale. My brother-in-law thinks the change was for business reasons and to please Clara. Their children were Geraldine (b. 1915, m. 1939 to Leo Berrington, d. 1947), Paul (b. 1917), Sheldon (b. 1920) and Joanne (b. 1925, m. Leonard Eisenstein).
Leo & Geraldine Berrington had three children: David (b. 1940), Craig Anthony (b. 1943, m. Susan Dale Olsen in 1967) and Cynthia Dale (b. 1945).
Do you want information regarding David, Craig and Cynthia's children? Also I am starting to collect some information regarding the Shaffner family.
Thanks again for your help,
Carolyn

Dear Carolyn,
Thanks for writing. It sounds like your brother-in-law and I are possibly related (is his last name Barrigton?). Maybe you can confirm the relationship by the data in the attachment, which gives descendants of Albert (Abraham) Gunzburger and Rosa Dreifuss Gunburger. Rosa was my great great aunt, the youngest sibling of my great grandfather, Leopold Dreifuss. She was the fourth Dreifuss sibling (Leopold, Henry,Aaron and Rosa) to come to the US between 1868 and about 1882. All four for some time lived in Pennsylvania and Selinsgrove (Snyder County) was a common denominator. My brother Jeff (copied at jsgran@erols.com) and I have a great interest in the early Selinsgrove and also Danville history of our family.
I have a web site on our interest in the Selingsgrove Connection at http://home.comcast.net/~dreifuss1/Selins.htm
You'll find all kind of tidbits there.
Please lets here from you on the connection!
Sincerely,
Pete Dreifuss

I am doing research for my sister and brother-in-law. His mother's maiden name was Geraldine Gunzberger. She wrote that her father was a tailor from Pennsylvannia who settled in ILL except for 1925-26 when he took his family to Hollywood, CA. When he returned to ILL he opened a deli in Chicago. She also wrote that there was a connection to the Dreyfus ro Dreifuss family. Do you have information pertaining to this branch of the Gunzbergers?

Carolyn’s june 4, 2006 email:
Dear Peter,
I'll start with Craig and Susan's children and wait until I have correct dates and names for the others.
By the way Susan Dale Olsen did convert to Judaism before marrying Craig in Edmond, OK, 9/3/1967.
Their children are Jennifer Dale, b. 1969 in Silver Spring, MD, Emily Lynn, b. 1970 in Silver Spring, MD and Lacy Dianne, b. 1972 in Silver Spring, MD.
Jennifer married Ian Huxtable, lives in California, and has two girls, Nicole Dale (1994) and Sophie (1998).
Emily married to Patrick Jackman in 2002.
Lacy married Eric McCarthy in 2002. They have a son Kevin Matthew (2004) and another will come this Summer.

721. “Goldberg Family Tree.”
I discovered the Goldberg family tree on ancestry.com of Arin Goldberg on 14 Jan 2023 who had many of the same ancesters as me including Abraham and Duset Dreyfuss. But I could not find the path to him because his tree had 6079 names. He was listed as a 4th-6th cousin sharing 49 cM or <1% DNA. Ancestry for some reason did not identify commmmon ancesters nor did it assign to my paternal of maternal side. So I wrote to him and he wrote back almost immediately. He said his 5th great grandfather was Herzel Elias Weil brother of Duset.

Hi, Pete,
sorry for the delay; I somehow lost your mail address.
While searching the Zwolen microfilm I was able to find 3 records which were on your list. > Here the most important information:
> a) Waserman Lejbus, born 1869 (record No 25) in Zwolen, parents Rachmil and
> Haja Golda nee Flajszer,
> b) Goldfarb Kajla, born 1876 (record No 46) in Zwolen, parents Icek (age 28,
> painter) and Hinda nee Waserman,
> c) Finkelsztajn Haskiel, born 1867 in Zwolen (record No 10), parents Herszek
> and Haja Sura, 27 years old.
I would be happy if you pay me 10 $ per document, that means 30$ alltogether. I will send you a money request per PayPal which is the easiest way for both of us. If you wish I could continue the research for your ancestors in Poland.
Best regards from Vienna,

746. The first source of information on Bernhard, his son Karl and their family came from Batia Leshem, a granddaughter of Bernhard...
The following email was received on November 5, 2002 from Batia (bleshem@bezeqint.net)
Hello, Peter !
I am the daughter of Karl Hess from Fulda son of Bernhard and Fanny Hess . If you have any information about this family I would like to share it with you .
Sincerely ,
Batia Leshem ( Hess )
Batia wrote the following email on November 6, 2002...
Dear Peter !
Thank you very much for the information . I saw also the family tree that your father built , but it is , of course , not complete.
I identified in the tree one of the cousins of my father : Dr. Hans Blumendal . My father was born in 1912 so I assume that Hans Blumental's mother was the sister of my grandfather , Bernhard Hess . Can you confirm this assumption . If your answer is possitive I can contribute a small branch to the Hess family tree.
Best regards,
Batia
